Right — have been messing about with this thing for about six months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, so thought I’d chuck my thoughts in since a mate asked me a few days back. I’m based in the UK, mostly stick to footie and the horses, small stakes, for context.
The reason I started using it was honestly pretty stupid — I couldn’t ever work out what an e/w payout actually was once you get five places instead of three. Basically I’d eyeball it and then be surprised. Now type the odds in first, every time, even a simple single bet.
The single bet calculator is the bit I open most — you put in the price and your stake and you get profit and total return with no faffing, fractional or decimal, doesn’t matter. It also handles the multiples — acca and treble returns, a lucky 15, yankees, honestly that’s where I always got it wrong. Have a go yourself, it lives at outplayed calculator — free, no signup.
What really shifted things for me was the more serious bits. The odds-to-probability calculator which shows you what margin’s baked in, and a kelly staking tool — I stick to fractional kelly as the full version is far too aggressive. The dutch tool is handy too for when I’m splitting a race.
Not all sunshine though. The interface is pretty plain — zero frills, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. On my phone it’s usable though the bigger tables need a bit of scrolling. And nothing on the app store, it’s browser only — fine by me just flagging it.
Right, that’s me. Free, not plastered in adverts, does what it says. Anyone who even now works out returns on a calculator app, give it a go — saves me a load of arguments with the bookie.
